Tuesday, June 16th - Day trip to Bodie, a California State Historic Park, once a thriving community of over 10,000 and now a ghost town. Upon arrival in Bodie we will have a picnic lunch in the park and then a guided tour thru the town and mill. You and Old Paint will have a lot of ground to cover today.
Wednesday, June 17th - In the morning we will go into Reno to the National Automobile Museum, The Harrah Collection, one of the top 16 car museums in the World. Back to the hotel, take off your hat, boots and spurs and kick back for an hour or two and have a light lunch, then off to Lake Tahoe for our dinner cruise on the Dixie II. This is one beautiful lake.
Thursday, June 18th - Carson City is the capitol of Nevada and has one of the finest Museums around that was once a United States Mint. Virginia City is our next stop and lunch at the Delta Saloon. Lots to see and do in this old historic town, shopping, mine tours, mill tours, train rides, museums, stagecoach rides, and, did I mention shopping? Get your boots and hat and all the western finery here. Make sure you go into the Bucket of Blood saloon, owned by one of our Graham members, and have a beer or two (or soda).
Friday, June 19th - Our first stop is Donner Memorial Park in California, dedicated to the memory and courage of the Donner party in their attempt to cross the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Then to Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 winter Olympics. Ride to High Camp in the cable car with a breathtaking view of the valley, and then have lunch on top, or if you wish stay in the valley and have lunch in the Village. Last stop is Tallac Historic Site, summer homes of three wealthy San Francisco families. The Baldwin, Pope and Heller estates were built between 1894 and 1923 on the shores of Lake Tahoe. This day will also take us on a complete tour around Lake Tahoe.
Saturday, June 20th - Well partner, this is the day we round up and brand the herd (line up and judge the Graham’s), so make sure you brought your finest steers with you. Lots going on today, fashion shows, seminars, and other options in the area. About 5:00 we will put on the old feed bag for a great evening of food, entertainment, fun, prizes, awards and a visit from the "Ghost of Mark Twain". Wear your wild west best, gambler, dance hall gal, miner, cowboy, gunfighter or ?.
Sunday, June 21st - Today is our Good-By Breakfast, a time to reflect on the past weeks events with old and new friends. Enjoy a leisure meal on your time schedule, and the Hotel Coffee Shop can accomodate small or large groups. Also a time to start plans to meet again in 2010 in New York at the next GOCI meet!
